The Board of Directors of Pets Lifeline, Sonoma Valley’s only Animal Resource Center, today announced the appointment of Olivia Kristiansen as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 2, 2024.
This strategic move marks a significant milestone in the nonprofit’s mission to protect and improve the lives of cats and dogs through sheltering and adoption, humane education and community programs.
“Nancy King, our esteemed outgoing CEO, has been the backbone of Pets Lifeline for many years, leading with compassion and dedication. As she passes the baton, we are super excited to welcome Olivia, whose innovative vision and proven leadership skills promise to take Pets Lifeline to its next level.” said Marchelle Carleton, president of the Board of Directors.
Kristiansen, with nearly two decades of experience in the tech industry, will utilize her expertise in strategy, operations, and organizational growth to drive Pets Lifeline forward, expanding its reach and enhancing its impact in the animal welfare sector, Carleton said.
“Her track record includes pivotal roles at industry giants such as Yahoo, Uber and Twitter, where she spearheaded various initiatives to scale operations and foster growth,” she said.
“Olivia is the perfect person to take the helm of Pets Lifeline,” said Nancy King, who is stepping down after 15 years as CEO. “Not only does she have a genuine compassion for animal welfare, but she also brings years of experience in strategic planning and leadership. Her high-level professional skill set and heartfelt dedication to the cause are key to moving the organization forward for years to come.”
Kristiansen has served on Pets Lifeline’s Board of Directors, where her contributions included organizing the largest fundraising event of the spring, a pivotal event for the success of the nonprofit.
“I am honored to join Pets Lifeline as CEO and to have the opportunity to build upon the remarkable legacy of this organization,” said Kristiansen. “My lifelong passion for animal welfare makes this shift from the corporate world to a local, purpose-driven nonprofit a dream come true.
“My vision for Pets Lifeline is to innovate while staying true to our core mission of animal welfare. Together, we will write a new chapter for Pets Lifeline, one that is marked by growth and unwavering dedication to the animals we serve.”
Living locally since 2021, Olivia and her wife, Sonja, adore their two rescue cats and a family of deer that call their backyard home.
In her new role, Olivia seeks to build on the solid foundation laid by Nancy King, which includes community engagement and sustainable growth, adding her own spin to a future filled with promise and progress for Pets Lifeline.
