What issues would you like to see the Board of Supervisors tackle in 2025? Share your suggestions on Friday, Jan. 10 during a special meeting of the Board of Supervisors in Sebastopol.
At the beginning of each year, Sonoma County supervisors hold an offsite meeting to set priorities for the upcoming year. The public is invited to address the Board of Supervisors during the Jan. 10 meeting, which will be held at 8:30 a.m. at Sebastopol Center for the Arts, 282 S. High St.
“This meeting is a chance for our board to align our priorities and lay the groundwork for the coming year,” said Supervisor Lynda Hopkins, chair of the Board of Supervisors. “We want to hear from as many constituents as possible so that the community’s priorities are truly reflected in the work that we do.”
Spanish translation will be available. If a commenter is unable to attend in person, they may email comments for the Board of Supervisors to bos@sonoma-county.org.
I would like the board become fully aware of the danger of placing an Asphalt Plant so close to Forestville and surrounding neighborhoods. Dangerous chemical fumes puts all these inhabitants, businesses, churches and schools at risk of air pollution.
Our fragile mixed environment is already designated by the state as a fire danger zone.. All in order to enhance the business of a rock quarry which has shown little regard for the rules which were imposed when they expanded their quarry business..
Because we need asphalt for maintaining our roads, board can surely locate less populated areas in the county to place a plant

Our
County Supervisors,
Canyon Rock’s proposed industrial asphalt operation will drastically increase the risk of fire danger in this densely forested and agricultural zoned area. Local residents in West County are having a very hard time acquiring fire insurance. We are concerned about property values decreasing. The agricultural community has been experiencing hardship due to wildfires in recent years. In 2020 many local wineries lost their grape production due to smoke taint. Fire and smoke have also affected tourism and the economy. An asphalt plant in Pocket Canyon is not compatible with the small town of Forestville. People from all over the world visit our beloved Sonoma County. Even more choose to stay here and protect it.
Thank you for your consideration, Julianna Martinelli
