Of all the courts with which one might have to interface, (from traffic court to perhaps even the Supreme Court), none is likely as fun as the high school homecoming court.
This year, Sonoma Valley High School students have nominated several members of the student body to participate in a slate of annual homecoming events this coming weekend. Among them are the parade, the football game and the dance – each rife with local tradition.
Among the nominees are 18-year-old Sheila Brady, who has worked with First Saturdays, a group that facilitates nonprofits and 17-year-old Kylee Adams, co-president of the Interact Club, on Mock Trial, Speech and Debate and is a member of the Book Club. She also plays varsity soccer and softball and the California Scholarship Federation.
Several Leadership participants were nominated, including 17-year-olds Madeline Davis, Rose McMackin and Willy Stober who is also on the football team. Ditto Lee Jorgensen, who also played basketball and volunteered at the SVHS summer basketball camps for the past two years. Brian Molina is also on the football team and also practices weightlifting.
17-year-old Nate Rowland is a member of the baseball team and football squad;; 17-year-old Melanie McDavid participates in theater activities. 17-year-old George Ha is a member of the track team and was junior class president. Philosophy Club and General Assembly member Ryan Joseph is also nominated as is Karina Baxter.
16-year-olds Libby Gross, who is involved with the Interact Club and dance team and also plays varsity soccer, and Nick Pappas, a member of the football and wrestling squads, were nominated as well.
