The Sonoma Valley Community Health Center will receive a $5 million federal grant, Congressman Mike Thompson announced Wednesday.
The funds will be allow the health center to expand its facilities, improve existing services and serve more patients.
“Community health centers are a critical component to the accessibility of quality and affordable health care,” said Thompson. “These funds, which were made possible through the Affordable Care Act, will improve health care and support local jobs for folks across our communities.”
Cheryl Johnson, the center’s interim executive director, said the facility is honored to be have been selected. “Thanks to the diligent efforts of Congressman Thompson and his staff, SVCHC will be able to enhance our current services as well as offer expanded services including dental.”
The funding allows the opportunity to serve even more residents as the clinic strives to meet the needs of the Sonoma Valley community, Johnson said.
