The St. Francis of Sonoma 8th grade girls team celebrates Sunday after winning the North Bay CYO Division 2 Championship with a 28-27 victory over St. Vincent’s of Petaluma.
Coach Mike Minigan described the game as a real nail-biter: “We were up eight points at the half, down by one after three quarters, and lost our point guard to fouls half-way through the fourth quarter. But everyone dug in to play tough defense and we hit two big buckets to regain the lead late. A three pointer just rimmed out at the buzzer for St. Vincent’s, and we could finally celebrate. Wow!”
Front row: Mary Minigan, Erin Atkinson, Bella Fanucchi, and Elizabeth Jaggie. Middle row: Katie Stovall, Jastine Kovacs, Hannah Ford-Monroe, Maddie Cashel, Emily Greenslade, Alanna Johnston and Megan Steiger. Back row: Head coach Mike Minigan and assistant coach Kevin Jaggie.
