Siblings Kate and Mike Benziger haven taken the helm at Envolve Winery, embracing a “family-centric approach” to sustainability and community involvement.
The focus was inspired by the active involvement of Chris Benziger, Mike and Kate’s brother, with Becoming Independent – a community based service organization helping people with disabilities live meaningful and productive lives. Through the strong relationship Mike and Kate have with their brother, support of Becoming Independent and other charitable organizations, the mission of “Get Envolved” emerged, pointing the winery and brand in a new direction.
“We have a strong connection to the community and an equally strong sense of family. Our new motto, ‘Get Envolved,’ is a key component of our winery and how we do business,” said Mike Benziger. “Giving back and getting involved is central to who we are and something we’re very proud of. It’s not only who we are but it’s also the feeling people will get when they visit us and taste our wines – it’s a holistic experience.”
Danny Fay maintains an active role with Envolve Winery, while the other original partner, Ben Flajnik, is focusing on pursuing new opportunities and his current business ventures.
Along with the ownership change, Envolve also completed renovations of its tasting room in downtown Sonoma, adding a new reserve seated tasting area. Additional enhancements are currently planned for a new patio area in response to visitor and guest trends interested in seated educational tastings, Mike Benziger said.
“We’re focusing on sustainability with our wines, something we learned from Benziger and in working at the family winery,” said Mike Benziger. “We view the entire process from a sustainability standpoint and focus on utilizing nature’s best elements to craft our wines.”
The tasting room is located at 27 E. Napa Street, Suite A.
