Raising funds to support Ebola relief efforts in West Africa, Sonoma’s own Girl Scout Troop #10240 will have a table at the Christmas Market and Craft Fair at Faith Lutheran Church on December 6. Members will be selling candles in handmade candleholders and other items priced from 50 cents to five dollars.
“The girls designed the candleholders and made them from recycled materials,” said Troop Leader Marti Murray. “Projects like these teach them critical thinking and gives them experience with marketing themselves and the products they sell.”
This year, the troop decided to donate the proceeds from the fundraiser to the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to benefit organizations assisting in the efforts to end the Ebola epidemic in West Africa, especially in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea.
The third annual Christmas Craft Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church 19355 Arnold Drive in Sonoma. The community event features a variety of unique, handcrafted items from some 25 local crafters, artisans, and bakers.
