This Sunday, January 11, will be Reverend Nancy Taylor’s last day as pastor of the First Congregational Church of Sonoma, United Church of Christ.
Reverend Taylor has provided an insightful and caring ministry for nearly nine years. “Rev. Nancy’s wisdom, empathy and love of service have greatly influenced us,” said current Church Moderator, Ellen LaBruce. “She helped create extensive remodeling projects to our church buildings, has promoted week youth-oriented work projects with Seeds of Learning in Nicaragua and with the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and enthusiastically supported efforts to create an ecologically sustainable campus.”
During her tenure Taylor expanded the faith exploration programs and strengthened the church’s connection with Congregation Shir Shalom, LaBruce said.
Members and friends are invited to attend the 10:30 a.m. farewell worship service in the sanctuary, to be followed at noon by a potluck reception in Burlingame Hall to honor Rev. Taylor and her wife, Chey. The church and hall are located at 252 W. Spain St.
