Could your thumb get a little more green? Do you want hands-on experience with the inner workings of an active nursery? Sonoma Ecology Center is seeking volunteers for its Nursery Workdays at Sonoma Garden Park on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The nursery at Sonoma Garden Park, with the capacity to grow 40,000 plants, provides native plants for numerous restoration projects in and around the Sonoma Valley while also providing the vegetable starts for the crops at Sonoma Garden Park. All ages and skill levels are welcome to volunteer, but children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
This month’s work dates are January 8 and 22. Volunteers meet at 9 a.m. in front of the Straw Bale Barn next to the parking lot of Sonoma Garden Park, 19996 Seventh St. E. between Denmark Street and East MacArthur Street.
Volunteers will be getting dirty, so please dress appropriately. Wear sturdy shoes and bring gloves, a snack, and a refillable water bottle. With questions contact Mike Zigler at 707.996.0712 x102 or mike@sonomaecologycenter.org.
