It’s old news by now: the Warriors are in the NBA Playoffs for the first time in 39 years. Whether you are a fanatical basketball fan or you’re a “finals fan,” it’s an exciting time to live in the Bay Area. It is also a good excuse to get out of the house, wear your gold and blue, and cheer on the Warriors with other fans. If all goes as plan, the finals will continue until June 19. Here’s my picks of where to watch the games:
Carneros Bistro
The Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort & Spa, 1325 Broadway, Sonoma
931-2042
Carneros Bistro has a large bar with multiple TV’s and a covered, heated, outdoor patio that features giant big screens, making it a great spot for groups. They offer three menus for all price ranges: a lounge menu, pizza menu, and a fine dining menu. The dinner menu has recently underwent an overhaul and includes new appetizers, salads and entrees. One thing that hasn’t changed: Carneros has the best steak frites in town, which pair perfectly with unique wines and beers selected by sommelier Joshua Betts.
Olde Sonoma Public House
18615 Sonoma Hwy, Sonoma
938-7587
One of my favorite pubs in the North Bay, Olde Sonoma Pub has a couple of TV’s and plenty of seating for the game. You’ll always find laid back, friendly fans here, enjoying one of Sonoma Valley’s largest selection of beers on tap and by the bottle. Between commercials you can play some pinball and after the game, some pool. If you’re hungry you can order food from the Mexican restaurant next door and eat at the pub. Oh, and don’t forget the free popcorn and wifi!
B&V Whiskey Bar & Grille
400 1st St East, Sonoma
938-7110
Burgers & Vine has a huge bar with a jumbotron sized TV which makes the bar one of the hottest spots to watch the NBA Finals. Five more TV’s are scattered around the bar and plenty of seating makes it a great spot for groups. They make a celebration out of the games, with live music before games. B&V has seen a lot of improvements since it’s opening, specifically with their food. They have some of the best wings in town now and have introduced more menu items. Chef Carlo Cavallo is bringing his “Meritage” flavor to the menu, with dishes including Dungeness crab ravioli and bison short ribs. Good grub options for all palettes and plenty of beer, wine and liquor to accompany it. I watched the World Cup here and really enjoyed myself.
