The California Highway Patrol is looking for witnesses to the accident that fatally injured an 81-year-old pedestrian Monday morning on Verano Avenue.
Constancia Morsiquillo, of Sonoma, was crossing Verano 7:15 am in order to enter Maxwell Farms Regional Park at when she was struck by a Ford Thunderbird traveling eastbound. The driver, Jesus Garibaldi Mora, 69, of Sonoma, was not arrested.
Preliminary information indicates that Mora did not see the woman in the street, according to the CHP. She was taken by ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where she later died of her injuries.
