United Airlines pilot Ed Vaughn was among the speakers at a Sept. 11 tribute held Monday morning at St. Francis Solano School. The event was to honor those who died five years ago in the terrorist attack on America.
Many community members, school alumni and parents attended, and speakers at the memorial included local author Alison Keaney, as well as Vaughn and Sonoma Police Chief Paul Day, both St. Francis parents. Members of the school’s student council organized the special assembly, which culminated in each student placing an American flag, each of which represented 10 deaths from the 9/11 attack, into the lawn in front of the school.
