Petanque – a pleasurable pastime

Editor: On Sunday, October 3, my wife and I experienced a most enjoyable and fun afternoon at the Valley of the Moon Petanque Club’s annual Sonoma Oktoberfest. The novice players, like us, learned to play this French game at the petanque/bocce courts located behind the Sonoma Barracks at Depot Park . The event was about teaching and playing the game, as well as great fellowship and a spirit of camaraderie, tasty food and terrific beers supplied by the Lagunitas Brewing Company!

Sonoma Petanque Club President, Tom Bricca and his able crew of cooks put together a day that we will remember for a long time. And, in fact, we so thoroughly enjoyed ourselves that we are planning to join the Club and learn the game. You might want to check it out at vompc.org.
