Quite literally your last and only chance to view the planet Venus passing in front of the sun — the rare astronomical phenomenon, known at the Transit of Venus, won’t happen again until 2117. On Tuesday, June 5, The Robert Ferguson Observatory will host a daylong viewing beginning at about 3 p.m. when Venus begins to pass between the sun and earth.
The maximum effect is reached at 6:35 p.m. Sunset, with the transit still in progress, is at 8:30 p.m. $8 parking per car. Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, 2605 Adobe Canyon Rd., Kenwood.
