Stage three alert!

There’s Broadway, off-Broadway and, suddenly, Sonoma Valley. With “A Chorus Line” waiting in the wings – the musical opens a three-weekend run on Aug. 24 at Andrews Hall – the area boasts no less than four live theatre productions this week:

“A Midsummer’s Night Dream”
Kate Kennedy and her Avalon Players Shakespeare Company are back at Buena Vista Winery after a six-year hiatus. August 23 through 26, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and are available at Readers’ Books. For more information, visit brownpapertickets.com. “Two Gentlemen of Sonoma”
This clever adaptation of the Bard’s first comedy is restaged in pre-1840’s Sonoma and Petaluma, with General Vallejo and Captain John Sutter as lead characters. The outdoor performances play at, and to benefit, the Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park on August 25 and 26. Food and wine sold on site, picnics welcome. 3325 Adobe Road, Petaluma. Broadway Under the Stars
Transcendence Theatre Company, the troupe of talented young pros with Broadway chops, continues its summer season at Jack London State Park with “What a Wonderful World.” Featuring tunes from “Music Man,” “My Fair Lady,” “South Pacific” and more hit shows, the revue plays 24-26.
