A detour of southbound Highway 12 through the Springs is in effect today (Monday, June 22) until to 8 p.m.
Southbound traffic on Highway 12 is being detoured onto Madrone Road, Arnold Drive, and Verano Avenue from 9 a.m – 8 p.m. There is access to homes and businesses. The detour will allow PG&E to complete an essential tie-in of their transmission lines, which requires a continuous 22-hour work period to complete.
There are flaggers at each intersection of the detour. California Highway Patrol will be present at the intersections in peak commute hours from 3 -7 p.m. Drivers will be alerted to the changed conditions with roadside message boards. At 8 p.m. the detour will end, and traffic controls will resume the current practices of alternating traffic with one-way lane closures.
