Spell check

Tweens and teens, including 16-year-old Jenna Ebert (center), play all the roles in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” a Teens ‘N Training musical presented by Sonoma Arts Live. The Tony-winning musical, directed by Libby Oberlin, follows a group of six-graders – a pubescent gamut of shy, goofy, confident, hyper-allergic and just plain nerdy – through the rigors of a spelling competition.

The actors are earnest and adorable, and the songs (including “My Friend the Dictionary,” “I Speak Six Languages” and “My Unfortunate Erection/Distraction) add some witty Broadway punch. The show runs Thursday-Saturday, March 17-19 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 20, at 2 p.m. Rotary Stage, Andrews Hall in the Sonoma Community Center, 276 East Napa Street. $15-$40. 800-838-3006.
