unnamedSheriff’s Detectives have arrested Kevin Scott Thorpe, a 39-year-old Rohnert Park man (pictured), on suspicion of sex crimes with a teenage resident of Hanna Boys Center.

The investigation began on June 1 when a man, now 23, reported that he was the victim of sexual abuse while residing at Hanna during the years of 2006-2011.

During this period the victim was 13-18 years-old. He reported that Scott, then a 28-year-old counselor at Hanna, sexually assaulted him on numerous occasions. Thorpe is now the center’s clinical director.

According to a Sheriff’s report, the assaults allegedly occurred at both Thorpe’s Sonoma Valley home and on the Hanna Boys Center campus. The victim was in fear of getting in trouble and being kicked out of the Sonoma group home if he told anyone about the alleged abuse. He has come forward, stated Sergeant Spencer Crum, “as he fears of ongoing sexual abuse with other minors.”

As clinical director, Thorpe guides the treatment plans for students and oversees the therapists on staff.

Detectives also believe there may be additional victims either at Hanna Boys Center or in the community where Thorpe volunteers in a youth ministry program for teens.

Additional victims or anyone with information about this case are encouraged to contact the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Detectives at 707-565-4300.

Sheriff’s Detectives obtained a warrant and arrested Thorpe on June 10, 2017 at his Rohnert Park home. He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor and sexual assault of a minor. He is being held on $250,000 bail.
