Sonoma Community Center announces virtual Summer Camp

Posted on July 5, 2020 by Sonoma Valley Sun

As a way to offer summer fun (and learning), the Sonoma Community Center is launching a virtual summer program to engage and entertain kids of all ages. Options include weekly clay classes as well as sewing, culinary and art camps.

“We recognize that with the current economy not everyone has the ability to pay full price so we are offering a sliding scale structure,” says studio coordinator, Lexi Bakkar. “A plus side of online camps is your cousin from Boise can be in the camp with you!”

July will be filled with weeklong camps, including two sessions of Youth Fiber Camp with instructor Pia Anderson.  Kids and teens will learn specific hand sewing, macrame, and weaving techniques – all while completing a fun range of fiber art projects and crafts. Perfect for families with little foodies, Around the World is a culinary camp the whole family will enjoy, featuring cuisine from Italy to Mexico.

Lastly, the ever-popular Art and Clay Camp has been adapted so students can actively learn and explore from their own home.  Kits, workbooks, fun YouTube videos and live Zoom classes are included!

Those who can’t decide on the best-suited camp can choose all three!

For more information about the new virtual workshops, visit the class listings online at: https://sonomacommunitycenter.org/category/all-classes/children-teens/ or leave a phone message at our office (707) 938-4626 x1.  Financial aid information is available upon request.
