Sonoma Arts Live is excited to report that playwright, actor, and activist Del Shores named Sonoma Arts Live one of 23 theaters in the United States to receive funds from their recent live stream reading of his popular play Sordid Lives, with many of the original cast “zooming” in to read the parts they originated.

“We received word this week that the Del Shores Foundation sent us a check for $2,092.00,” says SAL’s Executive Artistic Director Jaime Love. “Funds from the live auction are still being gathered, and anyone interested in memorabilia from the Sordid Lives franchise is encouraged to go to Del Shores Facebook page for more information. We are so excited to be a part of this project.”

Sonoma Arts Live forged an ongoing relationship with Del Shores back in July of 2018 when Love invited him to perform his hit one-man show Six Characters in Search of a Play on the Rotary Stage during the OUT IN THE VINEYARD weekend headed by Gary Saperstien.

“Fast-forward to last fall, when Del reached out to ask if SAL would be interested in partnering with the Del Shores Foundation, agreeing to read new works from the Southern LGBTQ community.  We jumped at the chance!” says Love.

According to Shores, “The foundation’s mission is to find and facilitate the development of new Southern queer artistic voices through bringing together artists and working professionals, amplifying new work and connecting artists to platforms for the creation of the work.”

Sonoma Arts Live looks forward to further collaboration with the Del Shores Foundation and hopes to bring Mr. Shores back to the Rotary Stage in the future.
