Letter: Johnson for School Board

Posted on October 27, 2020 by Sonoma Valley Sun

We are writing in support of Britta Johnson for Sonoma Valley School Board Area 5 Trustee. Britta’s 20 years of work both before and while being on the board prove she has the passion, action, and vision to ensure this district is putting our students first.

Highly competent and collaborative by nature, Trustee Johnson has built a working coalition that shares her ‘students first’ vision and is making our schools stronger and more effective. As a first-term School Board member, she has been tenacious, bravely challenging the status quo. She has willingly worked to reform decades-old issues to realize a balanced budget, increase compensation for teachers, and provide a strong education for all children in Sonoma.

Britta’s record of accomplishments before the board is impressive and should not be overlooked. The Love Our Libraries Campaign raised over $ 200,000 and kept libraries open at all district campuses. Prestwood Direct has raised over $ 700,000 for teacher aids, technology, and classroom supplies. The I Choose SVHS campaign ensured passage of the 2016 bond which is currently funding major facilities improvements at all our campuses. These are just three of the countless student-focused ventures Britta has led that have earned our trust.

Thoughtful action is what is needed by the School Board and these are exactly the words to describe Britta. We enthusiastically recommend the re-election of Britta Johnson for Sonoma School Board Trustee Area 5 in 2020.
