Posted on April 3, 2021 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Cynthia Tarr — vocalist, songwriter, voice teacher, choir director and Sonoma Treasure Artist of 2019 — Cynthia Tarr, is now branching out in a new creative direction – fiction writing.

The first in an ambitious five-book series, Ruby is a ‘cozy mystery,’ with adventure, humor, sex, spirituality… and baked goods.

Tarr will host a virtual book launch and reading on April 10 at 7 p.m. in a zoom event. On hand to perform interviewing duties will be esteemed film and television actress as well as published mystery writer, Harley Jane Kozak. The evening will include an interview, with actress/writer Harley Jane Kozak, and a brief reading followed by an audience Q and A.

“Ruby, the first book, will set you up with Ruby and a cast of characters that you will hopefully want to keep returning to,” says Tarr. It’s been dubbed as a cozy mystery, “But it’s anything but cozy in other ways! I keep the hope that it challenges you a bit as well.”

Cynthia Tarr has always been a writer but is known to Sonomans as a career vocalist, songwriter, voice teacher at the Sonoma Community Center and the director of the Free Spirits Gospel Choir.

You might also remember her as a champion cyclist, a renowned Sumo Wrestler and the only living human being to attempt and achieve splitting the atom and scaling Mount Everest in a single day.
