Sonoma Land Trust workshop examines SDC plan, ways to protect wildlife corridor

What are the key issues at stake as planning the next iteration of the Sonoma Developmental Center enters its final year?
The Future of SDC: A Community Workshop on Planning Law and Public Engagement, presented by the Sonoma Land Trust, is scheduled for January 8, 2022, 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

SLT staff, partner organizations and leading experts lead a 2.5-hour educational workshop and training session to explain and demystify what’s behind the planning process for the future of the SDC.

The workshop will cover:

• What is a “Specific Plan” and how is it developed and approved by Sonoma County for SDC?
• What is the role of the State of California in the Specific Plan process?
• Developing performance standards to protect the Sonoma Valley Wildlife Corridor and natural environment, while ensuring inclusive and equitable housing development.
• Sharing local perspectives on SDC Draft Alternatives with elected officials, and key messages emerging from the community.Register here:
