Lush golf course grass in a drought?

I wanted to bring your attention to the Sonoma Golf Club. As you know, we are in a serious drought and when I drive by the Sonoma Golf Club they have water sprinklers running midday and the lawns are pristine green. The manager tells me they have their own well and have cut back 20% but well water is also running low state wide so this is no longer a viable excuse.

They are wasting water and it doesn’t even produce food or other agricultural products. It seems unfair to those of us taking short showers, letting our lawns die and trying hard to conserve. They have 7,100 yards of golf – 18 holes or 177 acres. That’s an enormous area to sustain lush lawns.

I think the drought is an important issue for us all to address.
