Memorial Day in photographs

Somber. Prideful. Patriotic. The Sonoma Valley Joint Memorial Day Observance, a treasured local tradition, was held on Monday, May 29, in Sonoma Veterans Memorial Park.
The ceremony will include patriotic music, vocalist Sheila Whitney (above), Color Guard and Rifle Salute, proclamations and speeches, aerial fly-over, and more. Carl “Chip” Allen, a local attorney, and U.S. Naval Academy graduate who served as a U.S. Navy Submarine officer was the Master of Ceremonies.
Immediately following the ceremony, the annual “All-American Picnic,” was jointly hosted by the Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley, the Rotary Club of Sonoma Sunrise, and the Rotary Club of Sonoma Springs.
