Bang! Sonoma fireworks show returns July 4

Though no big-crowd parade or Plaza party can yet resume, there will be a Fourth of July Fireworks show, the Sonoma Volunteer Firefighters’ Association announced today. The volunteer effort will be higher, bigger and better than ever, according to the SVFA.
The show, launched from the grounds of the Vallejo Home State Park, will be a tribute to Covid-19 front-line workers and to those who have lost their lives during the pandemic.
With public gatherings still banned, changes have been made to allow for better, more remote viewing, the group posted. “Our Fireworks technicians are making changes to our show for a higher aerial display and promise this years’ experience will be a spectacular return.”
With these changes, viewers are encouraged to watch from home or from a distance. “It is essential that we continue to socially distance and wear face coverings while in public spaces.”
Again, no hometown parade, but the SVFA is planning an “old-fashioned” car cruise. More details as the date gets closer.
.
Traditionally the parade and plaza festival have generated revenue to offset the costs of the Fireworks Display. Without these events occurring this year, there’s a need for funding to ensure the success of future Fireworks shows. Thank you so much This is so exciting.
I am born on the Fourth of July and so missed the fireworks.

Really? With the worst fire season conditions in a severe drought and you are going to ignite fireworks? I think there is some really flawed thinking from those who are allowing this to occur. I ask that you reconsider your decision. The residents of Sonoma County have had enough stress from the past few years of fires and the pandemic. Why not do something to relieve our community’s stress and not increase it by partaking in a very risky activity.

I agree with Kate; severe drought, high fire danger don’t mix with fireworks!

Happy Birthday Carol (and my dear departed grandmother).
I agree and think this will be a much needed break from the abnormal conditions of the past year+.

My trust goes to the Fire Dept, not only for expertise but for their responsibility / skin in the game.

    Thanks, LAG
