Sonoman Helga Schauer (at right) responded to the Sun’s recent interview with dressmaker Noemí Vázquez by offering her a professional overlock machine. It had belonged to Schauer’s mother, who crafted ball gowns for Nob Hill ladies in her little dressmaking shop in San Francisco. “My mom will be grateful that it has gone to someone who can do it justice.”

The dressmaker for local folkloric dance group Quetzalén assured Schauer that she will give the gift very good use, making better finishes for her work. “When what’s most important in life is how we treat with each other, then generosity flows in our lives.”
