A managed burn Wednesday in southern Sonoma Valley

Be alert for smoke and traffic on Wednesday, July 19, as crews stage a prescribed burning at Donnell Ranch in southern Sonoma Valley. The location is 27235 Arnold Drive (Hwy.  121), about 1 mile past Sonoma Raceway.

Prescribed fire managers from Audubon Canyon Ranch’s Fire Forward will lead the burn. Support will be provided by CAL FIRE, Schell-Vista Fire Protection District, Sonoma Valley Fire District, Petaluma Fire Department, and Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District.

About 90 acres of oak woodland and savannah are scheduled for treatment to reduce fuel loading and the occurrence of invasive grasses.

Controlled burns in southern Sonoma Valley will commence as early as 8:30 a.m. and conclude around 5 p.m. Residents and travelers along Highway 121 in the Sonoma Raceway / Lakeville area may see or smell smoke in the air for up to 9 hours. This is a permitted controlled burn; do not call 911.

Audubon Canyon Ranch (ACR), is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit environmental conservation and education organization in the San Francisco Bay Area that has partnered with communities since 1960 to study, understand, and steward natural places.
