The local firefighters turned out in force, excepting those contributing to the efforts to contain the San Diego fires, for a fundraising event held October 25 at the Veterans Building. Organized by local agent Linda Huddleston of Unique Insurance Services, the event celebrated the donation of $10,000 by Fireman’s Fund to help purchase communications equipment to aid firefighters when working with their breathing apparatus on. Don and Sons donated wine for the event, which included a silent auction. Hors d’oeurves were provided by the Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley, which also donated $500 to the Association.
About 200 attended the event, which also included a special screening of “Into the Fire,” the critically acclaimed documentary by Academy Award winner Bill Couturie.
