Working with its outside consultants Leadership Associates from Mission Viejo, the board of trustees of the Soma Valley Unified School District has reviewed the resumes from over 20 applicants for the position of superintendent, vacant on July 1 due to the retirement of superintendent Barbara Young.
According to board president Cam Hawing, the field has been narrowed to five candidates, “all of whom are very well qualified.” The board expects to meet with those candidates on Friday this week for extensive interviews. While there is reportedly no set timetable for making a final decision, it could come quickly. Hawing acknowledged the help from many members of the community who had met with the district’s consultants earlier in the year as they were developing the list of attributes that would be sought in candidates.
