Five short years ago, Christine Dohrmann and Annette Lomont brought 110 women together to form Impact100 Sonoma to award grants to nonprofits serving Sonoma Valley.
In May, the organization will award $263,000, bringing the total amount of grants awarded since the organization’s inception to $1,192,000 – well beyond the one-million-dollar milestone.
Reflecting on this achievement, Co-President Sydney Randazzo exclaimed “We knew that we would pass the $1,000,000 mark this year, but I had no idea we would do so with so much to spare! This truly reflects the amazing generosity of our membership and the impact of collective philanthropy.”
The concept of Impact100 is simple – a giving circle of at least 100 women, each donating $1,000 – every penny of which goes directly to grants. Each year, the membership casts their votes to award a $100,000 Impact Grant plus a number of smaller Community Grants.
Today, the organization is 263 members strong – a record membership level.
“This year we are excited to welcome 58 new members to Impact100, who will join with our returning members to participate in the selection of our 2015 grant awardees,” stated Co-President Celia Canfield. “We are also extremely pleased to welcome back Union Bank as Impact100’s major underwriter for a third year.”
Because all of the $1,000 donated by each Impact100 member goes directly to grants, the organization is extremely grateful to numerous community partners, who provide in-kind services and donations that support Impact100 events and activities and help to defray the administrative costs of the organization.
“Thanks to the generosity of members, friends of Impact100, and a high level of community support, Impact100 is able to more effectively help meet the needs of the nonprofit community,” said Canfield.
Impact100’s mission is to increase participation among women in local philanthropy, raise awareness of the unmet needs of nonprofits in the Sonoma Valley, inspire members to become more involved with local charities, and make a substantial and lasting impact on the long-term sustainability of the nonprofit community.
Impact100 Sonoma is accepting Letters of Inquiry for grant funding from Sonoma Valley nonprofits for its 2015 grant cycle through January 20. Grant forms and instructions and additional information at Impact100 Sonoma can or 707-939-5007.
