Special Olympics torch in Sonoma on Monday

The official torch of the Special Olympics World Games, on its way to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, will wind through Sonoma on Monday, July 13, with a short ceremony in Sonoma Plaza.

Special Olympian William Corsi, of Florida, will carry the torch  from Sonoma Valley High School to Sonoma Plaza for a 1:30 p.m. ceremony with Sonoma Mayor David Cook, Capt. Clint Shubel who is representing the Sonoma Police Department, Hawaiian law enforcement runner Trisha Doronila

Corsi will be accompanied by numerous law enforcement runners as he carries the torch down Broadway and into the Square.

The ceremony will be held from 1:40 to 2:40 p.m.

The Flame of Hope, one of three traversing the state, will complete its journey on July 25, when the team carries it in to the Opening Ceremonies of the 2015 World Games.
