Sonoma planning commission has opening for Valley resident

To create a larger pool of interested out-of-city applicants for its Planning Commission, Sonoma is extended the application deadline to March 21.

The Planning Commission is made up of seven members plus an alternate. Six of the members and the alternate must be City residents, but the current opening may be filled by a non-city (Sonoma Valley) resident

The commission’s responsibilities include but are not limited to: Development of the General Plan and Development Code; review and action on environmental impact reports, subdivision and parcel maps, use permit and variance applications, and special studies and reports. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.

Applicants will be interviewed by the Mayor and one other City Councilmember, who will make a nomination to fill the vacant position. The nomination will then go to the City Council for approval.

Those interested may apply by submitting a completed application form to the City Clerk. Application forms are available at City Hall or may be downloaded from sonomacity.org.   Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Monday, March 21.
