Beware the latest twist on the phone con job. Sonoma City staff have received two reports of water customers who received a call stating that the routing number for their on-line water bill payment was wrong and that their water was about to be shut off. The caller said that to avoid a water shut off, they would need to go to CVS and obtain a Western Gram money order. It’s a complete scam.
If you receive such a phone call, please note the caller’s phone number and alert the Sonoma Police Department at 996-3602.
