Sonoma man dies in solo car crash

A Sonoma man was killed when his car went off Napa Road and hit a concrete culvert. Gerick Raju, 50, was pronounced dead on the scene, near Eighth Street East, just after midnight on August 19.

Raju’s 2012 Nissan Rogue was heading west when it drifted off the road, striking a mailbox and trash can before hitting the concrete drainage ditch, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Raju was pronounced dead at 12:39 a.m. Neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the crash, the CHP said.
