The Sonoma Valley Regional Library and the Sonoma Valley Friends of the Library want you to know about services now offered outside the library walls.

Access to the 24/7 wi-fi hotspot at the library, for example, has been made more comfortable with the addition of three picnic tables donated by the Sonoma Valley Friends of the Library. Patrons can now can sit comfortably while accessing the internet on personal devices. Use is free and does not require a library card.

The “Discover & Go” program offers cardholders free or reduced-price passes to over 40 Bay Area museums and cultural institutions, such as the Asian Art Museum, the Oakland Zoo and the Charles M. Schulz Museum. A first of its kind, “Discover & Go” provides access to passes that can be reserved online from the Discover & Go website, (discover.sonomalibrary.org) where you can earch for available passes by date or venue and print a pass at home or from a library computer.

Library books in electronic format are available for download onto your portable device (Nook, Ipad, Kindle etc.) from the library’s new and improved website, sonomalibrary.org. Under the “Books and More” drop-down menu, click on E-Books. E-books are available to library cardholders from e-book vendors. Popular, mainstream titles from Overdrive, independently published and specialty titles from Enki, the Classics from OpenLibrary and more.

The library is located at 755 West Napa Street, Sonoma. For more information, call 996-5217 or look online at sonomalibrary.org.
