Petaluma team salutes Seelye

Posted on September 29, 2014 by Sonoma Valley Sun

For the Petaluma High School football team’s show of support Friday night for Michael Seelye, the Sonoma High player being treated for Lymphoma, SV High School Principal Kathleen Hawing sent this letter of thanks to her counterpart.

On behalf of Sonoma Valley High School and the greater Sonoma community, we would like to thank Petaluma High School and in particular, the Petaluma football program, for their unexpected and most thoughtful gesture in support of one of our senior varsity football players, Michael Seelye.

The generous gift of a letterman’s jacket with stitching and additional Mary’s Pizza certificate will certainly give Mikey a boost in spirit as he goes through treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on his way to recovery. This kind act did not go unnoticed and reminds me that we are part of a greater, caring community that will come together to support our students and their families.

Please give my personal thank -you to the players, their families and the coaching staff for their heartwarming gesture and know that we hold the Trojans in high esteem.

Most sincerely,

Kathleen Hawing, Principal
