Ten healthy habits for 2015

Posted on January 7, 2015 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Happy New Year, Sonoma. Welcome to 2015!

How’s it looking so far? Feeling inspired? Motivated? Hopeful? Ambitious? Well, if you’re like most, you probably have some sort of desire to make some healthy changes in the upcoming year. If so, here is a good place to start.

They say success is found in your daily habits. Highly successful people and people who are healthy tend to have structured days that are planned out and revolve around consistent behaviors that lead to their success. Likewise, people who have unhealthy daily habits often have a hard time achieving their goals.

Imagine if you picked one unhealthy habit and replaced it with one habit from this list. How would that impact your health? Why not give it a try…. Here are my top 10 healthy habits in 2015. Which one/s are you going to take on?

1. Walk in nature, soak in the sun, and deep breathe fresh air 30 minutes a day. The sun and ions from nature are healing.

2. Watch less of other people’s stories (on social media and TV) and instead get out and make your own.

3. Go to bed earlier. Being well rested is the foundation of your productivity.

4. See a Naturopathic doctor. If you haven’t, this is your year. The way you approach health will change forever, for the better.

5. Become a student of health by reading one book on health per month. Just look at the NY Times Best seller list of health books and pick one!

6. Take probiotics. Caring for your digestive healthy daily is one of the most important things you can do for your health.

7. Volunteer in a meaningful way that speaks to you. Give in a way that comes from something you are passionate about every day.

8.  Stretch, deep breathe, and meditate 30 minutes a day.  Oxygen is good for the mind, organs, and blood. Stretching and going into your mind are also great for longevity.

9.  Detoxify. We live in a toxic world and are exposed to thousands of toxins per day. We also make toxins when under stress. Take supplements and eat foods that naturally support your bodies detoxification systems.

10. Lift heavy weights. Studies show there are numerous benefits to lifting heavy weights that include hormones, anti-aging, brain health, and much more.

There you have it. I wish you a healthy and productive 2015!
