Wanted man surrenders in Glen Ellen after CHP chase

Posted on March 26, 2015 by Sonoma Valley Sun

A man driving a motorcycle with stolen plates lead the CHP on a chase late Wednesday night from Rohnert Park to Glen Ellen, a 21-mile pursuit over the winding, narrow Bennett Valley and Warm Springs Roads.

Once on Arnold Drive, the motorcycle began to malfunction and the driver stopped to surrender. Taken into custody was Andrew Stiefel, 41, with no current residence.

Steifel was carrying an eight-inch fixed blade knife, officers said. It was removed by Sheriff’s deputies that had responded to assist.

Stiefel had warrants out for his arrest for parole violations and burglary. He was booked for the warrants, along with evading an officer, possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, possession of an illegal knife, and driving without a license.

The incident ended without injury or damage at about 11 p.m.
