A Petaluma couple was killed on Highway 121 between Napa and Ramal Roads this morning at about 9 a.m when their Ford Fusion collided with a Chevrolet Silverado.

The deceased have been identified as Fay Steinhart, 72, who died on the scene, and Richard Steinhart, 78, who was reportedly taken to a Napa hospital but did not survive.

The driver of the truck, a 27-year old man from American Canyon, was uninjured in the two-car collision.

The highway was closed for several hours, with traffic diverted through Sonoma via Eighth Street East.

The California Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the vehicle collision. Any inquiries regarding the crash should be directed to that agency.
