State Assemblyman Bill Dodd, elected in November to represent the Springs as part of the 4th District, comes to town Friday, July 31, as a candidate for the State Senate.

Dodd formally announced last week that he is running to succeed Sen. Lois Wolk, D-Davis, who is termed out in 2016.

The former Napa County supervisor said he will finish out his term as an assemblyman no matter the outcome of the election. “I wasn’t guaranteeing more than two years in this office,” he told “The Sacramento Bee”

Dodd said that he can be a more effective legislator in the Senate. “It’s a body of 40 instead of 80,” he said. “I think it gives me better opportunities to work and to create partnerships to get things done.”

Dodd will appear at a community meeting on Friday, July 31, 2 p.m. at the Sonoma Valley Grange. Attendees will be invited to tell Assemblyman Dodd something they would like him to know about the Springs, said organizer Gina Cuclis, a Springs resident and Sonoma County Board of Education trustee.

After the meeting Dodd will visit Nuestra Voz, the Mid Penn affordable housing project, Teen Services Sonoma, La Luz Center, and the location for a proposed town plaza.
