Vice Principals set at Valley middle schools

Jillian Beall has been named Vice Principal at Adele Harrison Middle School, and Christina Towner is the permanent Vice Principal at Altimira Middle School, Superintendent Louann Carlomagno announced. Both assignments begin with the 2015-16 school year.

Most recently Beall taught at Roseland Collegiate Prep Middle-High School in Santa Rosa. During her time at there, and Roseland Accelerated Middle School, she also served as Interim Assistant Principal, the Accelerated School Coach, and the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Site Coordinator.

She earned her administrative credential from Sonoma State University. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Mathematics (2008) and her teaching credential (2009) from Sonoma State University.

Mary Ann Spitzer, principal of Adele Harrison Middle School, said that moving into her second year on he job that the selection of the next vice principal was a clear priority. “With Jillian now on board, the Adele staff and I can now take full advantage of Jillian’s passion and enthusiasm for middle school as well as her depth of knowledge about middle school teaching and learning, Spitzer said.

Towner had been serving as Interim Vice Principal for the past year. Additionally, Ms. Towner’s assignment is going from a half time vice principal assignment to a full time vice principal assignment.

She was hired by the Sonoma Valley Unified School District as a special education teacher at Altimira Middle School in 2009. And has been instrumental in creating a strong collaboration between and among teachers in the special education program and teachers in the general education program.

Towner, said Altamira Pirncipal Will Deeths, Altimira Principal, “is that person on campus who is always guaranteed to be upbeat, positive, enthusiastic, resourceful, and collaborative. The staff and I value her insights and contributions.”
