Third-graders at Flowery School get a lesson in plein air painting techniques, a two-hour workshop with instructors from ARTescape.
“It’s super cute and gratifying,” said Mandy Bolling, secretary of the all-volunteer Sonoma Plein Air Foundation, which sponsored the event. “It reminds us why we do all this hard work!”
Sonoma Plein Air Foundation (SPAF) funded the September 4 event, one of many art education projects supported by funds raised during SPAF annual week-long festival. Funding for 2015-16 school year art projects will be raised during the Sonoma Plein Air Festival September 14-19, 2015.
Events will include open air painting around the county and beyond by 36 nationally renowned Plein Air artists, a Quick Draw demonstration at the Tuesday, September 15, night Farmers Market in the Plaza, and Plaza Art Exhibits, sale and Community Festival from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, September 19. All free to the public.
