The City of Sonoma Cultural and Fine Arts Commission’s 2016 Student Creative Arts Award Program is now accepting entries. It is open to Sonoma Valley residents between the age of 16 and 21 who are studying visual, literary or performing arts.

“We are pleased to again be able to offer a $2,000 award to local up-and-coming artists to help them further their studies in the arts,” said Kate Schertz, commission chair.

Applicants must submit a completed application form, a 200-500 word statement explaining the role that art has played in their life and what their plans are for continuing their artistic training.  Visual and literary artists must also submit a portfolio of at least five works.  All applicants will be asked to participate in an interview by Commission members.

The application form may be obtained at City Hall.  The deadline to submit an entry is January 15, 2016.  For additional information contact the City Clerk at 933.2216.
