County: Residents can help write Springs master plan

Posted on January 5, 2016 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Sonoma County will this year create a new master plan for the Springs – a guide for future development last updated in 1994 – and is calling for volunteers to help craft the document for the Permit and Resource Management Department.

The Community Advisory Team will be composed of 9 to 12 members. The deadline to apply is Friday, January 8.

Members will be selected to create a balanced team that represents the wide array of interests and backgrounds that exist in the Springs community, according to Yolanda Solano of PRMD.

The Springs Area Plan will guide future development and gradually transform the area into a more vibrant and sustainable, pedestrian-oriented community, with a focus on active transportation and enhanced transit opportunities. The team will also serve as a liaison to community residents, businesses and organizations.

“The planning grant process comes at a unique time for the Springs,” writes Supervisor Susan Gorin in her Sun column, “as the necessary infrastructure to support increased commercial businesses and community activities will be completed in 2016.”

Applications are available at the Permit and Resource Management Department, 2550 Ventura Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95403,; by calling 707.565.7387,; or emailing [email protected]. Interested persons are invited to submit an application by Friday, January 8, 2016.
