Posted on March 1, 2016 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The Sonoma man who killed another man with a hammer, stuffed his body into a barrel and dumped it in front of City Hall has been convicted of second degree murder. Christopher Michael McNatt, 41, faces a sentence of between 21 and 36 years-to-life in state prison for killing Ronald Gordon Sauvageau.

On March 20, 2015, McNatt went to visit a friend. While the friend was gone Mr. Sauvageau came to the residence. During a dispute McNatt became enraged with Sauvageau and killed him. McNatt was apprehended shortly after dumping the barrel in the City Hall parking lot, and admitted his role in the murder.

Jurors deliberated for approximately two hours before returning the guilty verdict.
