Sonoma Town Hall Meeting July 18: legal marijuana

Supervisor Susan Gorin will host a town hall meeting on marijuana in Sonoma on Monday, July 18, one of a county-wide series of discussions that will help shape a regulatory structure for the impending marijuana industry.

“Defining the structure and regulatory aspect of the commercial marijuana industry in Sonoma County comes with complex issues along with many opportunities and challenges,” said Supervisor Efren, Carrillo, who leads with Gorin the Board of Supervisor’s Medical Marijuana Ad Hoc Committee.

“We know this growing industry will have a big impact on our County and encourage all stakeholders to participate in shaping the County’s approach.”

The town hall meetings will consist of a brief presentation on the status of the regulatory process. The meeting will also provide an opportunity for attendees to provide feedback and ask questions on key issue areas

Representatives from a number of County departments will be available to discuss the marijuana industry as it relates to agriculture and the environment, health and human services, taxation and revenue, economic development, and enforcement.
