Honoring the Valley’s Star volunteers

Posted on October 13, 2019 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Three dozen of Sonoma Valley’s most active and valuable community volunteers were honored at the Sonoma Valley Fund’s annual Star Volunteer Awards ceremony on October 6 at Hanna Boys Center.

Each Star Volunteer was presented with a trophy and a certificate from Supervisor Susan Gorin. Speaking as the Fund Board President, Simon Blattner, the event emcee, said. “We’re excited to honor so many volunteers who enhance and strengthen the fabric of our community.” A regional affiliate of the Community Foundation Sonoma County, the Fund seeks to increase and improve philanthropic efforts in the Valley.

Earlier this year, the nonprofit announced a grant to support the Sonoma Land Trust’s acquisition of open space land at the Sonoma Developmental Center. And it recently launched a second “capacity building” grants program, and is now accepting applications for nonprofits.
