Science teacher Elisha Coon and Socorro Shiels, the School District Superintendent, join a surprise cookie party for Sonoma Valley High School faculty and staff Wednesday.
SVHS Principal Alberto Solorzano reached out to the SVHS Parent Connection group to see if members would help create a holiday surprise event to thank teachers and staff for their dedication and hard work. About 40 parents got busy baking cookies for the 95 worthy recipients.

This morning, Solorzano sent a group email to staff and teachers telling them there was a mandatory meeting for a major announcement. Teachers and staff streamed in at 2:15 today with some looks of concern, especially when they saw that Superintendent Socorro Shiels was there.

Solorzano thanked them for coming, and introduced parent Laura Szanyi, who thanked the surprised staff as other parents revealed two tables covered with boxes of chocolates and homemade cookies, as well as bath salts made by a parent.
