Bill Norton presides over the dedication of a new portable toilet outside the The Haven, the Sonoma Overnight Support homeless shelter in Sonoma. Dubbed “Lane’s Loo,” the unit is a legacy gift from the late Lane Norton, his wife, an ardent supporter.
Joining the informal festivities were Lane’s fellow members of the Unruly Book Club, and her walk club. The much-needed Porta Potty with sink is open 24 hours a day for clients that live in their cars, and also for the winter shelter and day services participants. “SOS is most grateful for her generosity,” says Kathy King, the shelter executive director.
